Newly obtained video footage by The Daily Beast captures former President Donald Trump at a golf outing, boasting about allegedly forcing President Joe Biden out of the race and speculating that he will have to run against Vice President Kamala Harris.
“He just quit, you know — he’s quitting the race,” Trump is heard saying in the video. “I got him out of the — and that means we have Kamala.” He then referred to Biden as a “broken-down pile of crap” and commented on Harris, “I think she’s gonna be better” as an opponent, but added, “She’s so bad. She’s so pathetic.”
Biden’s recent debate performance against Trump has ignited a storm of scrutiny from both the media and Democratic surrogates. Despite this, Biden has not indicated any intention to drop out of the election. Some reports suggest he is privately evaluating whether it will be necessary to step aside, depending on the outcomes of his upcoming public events and interviews.
A few current and former Democratic officials have hinted that the president should consider stepping down. However, the party remains overwhelmingly committed to his candidacy at this time.
If Biden were to withdraw, Harris would be the default option to replace him, as she is already on the ticket. This would allow her to leverage the Biden campaign’s existing war chest, whereas any other candidate would need to start from scratch.
