President Donald Trump reignited a long-standing feud with actor George Clooney over the weekend, lashing out on his Truth Social platform and accusing both the Hollywood star and the news program 60 Minutes of political bias and dishonesty.
In a sharply worded post on Sunday, Trump took issue with a recent 60 Minutes segment featuring Clooney, accusing the program of airing what he called a “puff piece” on the actor. “Why would the now highly discredited 60 Minutes be doing a total ‘puff piece’ on George Clooney, a second-rate movie ‘star,’ and failed political pundit,” Trump wrote.
The former president then turned his attention to Clooney’s political commentary and past support of President Joe Biden, referencing the actor’s shift in tone following a key debate in the 2020 election cycle. “He fought hard for Sleepy Joe’s election and then, right after the Debate, dumped him like a dog,” Trump continued.
Trump also suggested that Clooney was part of a coordinated political effort backed by former President Barack Obama’s allies to promote Vice President Kamala Harris, though he claimed that effort quickly fizzled out.
“Later, I assume under orders from the Obama camp, pushed all out for ‘Kamala,’ only to soon realize that that was not going to work out too well,” Trump said. He then leveled serious accusations at 60 Minutes, claiming the program manipulated a pre-election interview with Harris to benefit her image.
“60 Minutes even fraudulently inserted Fake answers into her disastrous interview, aired just before Election Day, in one of the most embarrassing and dishonest events in broadcast history… And now George Clooney again?” Trump asked. “His press agent should be making a fortune!!!”
The president’s comments drew reactions across social media, with supporters echoing his skepticism of mainstream media and critics dismissing the post as yet another celebrity-targeted rant. Clooney, a longtime Democratic donor and activist, has frequently spoken out against Trump in past interviews, making him a recurring target for the president.
Neither Clooney nor 60 Minutes has publicly responded to the latest remarks. With the 2024 election cycle approaching, Trump’s renewed attacks on public figures who support his political rivals suggest that his signature confrontational style remains firmly intact.
