Prince William’s reported mistrust of Meghan Markle is being cited as a major obstacle to reconciling with Prince Harry, and royal watchers are weighing in on the growing family rift.
According to royal expert Ingrid Seward, William has “taken a firm stance” and is keeping his distance from Harry and Meghan following the couple’s series of tell-all interviews and the publication of Harry’s memoir. Speaking to Fox News Digital, Seward explained that the Prince of Wales has little interest in rebuilding ties while mistrust remains.
The New York Post highlighted the comments, sparking a strong reaction from royal fans who argued that Meghan is not the only factor complicating matters between the brothers. Many pointed to Harry’s actions as a source of division.
One fan wrote, “Meghan isn’t the only problem, Harry has made quite a mess of his relationships with his family by constantly taking jabs at them publicly, advising the world of private conversations in his book and in interviews. To make it seem like mistrust in her is the only reason holding anyone in the royal family from reconciliation is ridiculous.”
Others, however, strongly agreed with William’s stance. “William is completely correct to mistrust her!!! Harry is a mess with that woman. He literally lost his mind since she came into his life,” another said.
A third fan echoed that view but emphasized Harry’s responsibility as well: “It’s not just her, Harry has betrayed his family big time!”
The criticism continued with even harsher words from another royal watcher who said, “William is 100% correct. She is poison and neither she nor Harry can be trusted at all not to divulge every detail. He can’t feel guilty. It’s Harry’s doing. Goodbye.”
The debate comes at a time when tensions between Harry and the royal family remain high. While there has been speculation about possible reconciliation, particularly in light of King Charles’ health issues, reports suggest William has no desire to reopen lines of trust that he feels have been repeatedly broken.
For many fans, the rift is no longer just about Meghan Markle but about Harry’s choices and the consequences of making private family matters public. Whether or not peace can be restored remains uncertain, but the weight of opinion from supporters suggests sympathy lies firmly with Prince William’s firm stance.
