Kanye West and his wife, Bianca Censori, are preparing to take legal action against a Beverly Hills dentist they claim drugged the rapper and caused him lasting harm.
The couple, who recently reconciled after a brief separation, served Dr. Thomas Connelly with a formal notice of intent to sue on Wednesday, accusing him of medical malpractice, fraud, and gross negligence. The notice, obtained by E! Online, outlines disturbing allegations that include drugging, financial exploitation, and an attempt to gain control of West’s Yeezy brand.
Connelly is the same dentist who famously fitted Ye with $850,000 worth of titanium dentures last year. But according to West and Censori, the dentist’s involvement in Ye’s life went far beyond cosmetic work.
The notice claims that Connelly administered a “cocktail of controlled and uncontrolled substances” to the rapper, including a steady supply of nitrous oxide — also known as laughing gas — at a cost of $50,000 per month. The alleged drug use, they say, led to “neurological and physical injury,” “emotional trauma,” and chemical dependency.
A press release accompanying the filing asserts that Connelly’s use of nitrous was not just recreational but manipulative. “Connelly got Ye hooked on nitrous — laughing gas… to diminish Ye’s mental faculties so that Connelly and his business associates could extract millions of dollars from him,” tweeted West’s representative, Milo Yiannopoulos, last year.
Yiannopoulos also filed a complaint with the California Dental Board, accusing the dentist of specifically targeting Black celebrities for exploitation.
For his part, Dr. Connelly has strongly denied all allegations. In a statement, he called the claims “factually incorrect” and “intentionally misleading.”
Under California law, plaintiffs must wait 90 days after filing a notice of intent before they can proceed with a medical malpractice lawsuit. That means West and Censori could officially file their case by late summer.
If the suit moves forward, it could bring even more scrutiny to West’s inner circle, legal troubles, and recent reemergence in the spotlight — and potentially expose a disturbing side to the glitzy world of celebrity dentistry.
